Statewide cybersecurity organization SC Cyber announced the launch of South Carolina’s “NSA Day of Cyber” School Challenge. The challenge began on November 1st and will run through the end of April 2018. Participating students will take part in rigorous, real-life virtual cyber scenarios, discover the skills and tools used by the NSA cyber professionals, and explore the vast number of careers in cybersecurity. Students will each receive an individualized Cyber Resume and NSA Certificate of Completion.
“The “Day of Cyber” School Challenge will introduce students to careers in high-demand sectors like cyber security,” said Tom Scott, SC Cyber Executive Director. “The key to successfully navigating our new digital economy and supporting the growing cyber security ecosystem within South Carolina will be the investment in our workforce and the necessary educational foundations that a program such as this provides for students.”
Schools will compete for the highest student participation over the course of the next six months. The school with the highest student participation will win a cash prize that will go towards enhancing cyber programs within their school. These participants will also be honored at an awards ceremony at the 2018 SC Cyber Summit on May 24 in Charleston South Carolina. A weekly dashboard will be featured on the SC Cyber website at http://www.sccyber.org.
