SC Cyber Award of Excellence Awards
Soteria receives award for SC Cyber Award of Excellence for industry at the 2017 Cybersecurity Summit.
SC Cyber announced the winner of South Carolina’s “NSA Day of Cyber” School Challenge. Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston received a $1000 check for finishing first place in the challenge. Participating students took part in rigorous, real-life virtual cyber scenarios, discovered the skills and tools used by the NSA cyber professionals, and explored the vast number of careers in cybersecurity. Students also received an individualized Cyber Resume and NSA Certificate of Completion.
COLUMBIA, SC - May 23, 2017 – SC Cyber announced today the recipients of the inaugural SC Cyber Awards for Excellence. Award recipients in three categories – Industry, Government, and Academia -- were honored at the SC Cyber 2017 Summit held on May 23rd at the USC Alumni Center. Recipients of the SC Cyber Award of Excellence must have a demonstrated commitment to advance talent, techniques, and tools required to defend critical, connected infrastructure in South Carolina and across the United States.
Soteria, LLC, a Charleston-based cyber security consulting and product development firm, received the SC Cyber Award of Excellence for Industry at the 2017 Cybersecurity Summit. SLED, a statewide investigative law enforcement agency in South Carolina, received the SC Cyber Award of Excellence for Government. Clemson University received the SC Cyber Award of Excellence for Education.
“Each of today’s award winners has proven a commitment to excellence that they have demonstrated throughout the year,” said Tom Scott, Executive Director of SC Cyber. “For Soteria, not only has their team has constantly been at the forefront of business side of cybersecurity, but they have also been instrumental in engaging their local community at large. In our Excellence in Government category, SLED has shown through its leadership of the state’s critical infrastructure cyber efforts and collaborative work to support homeland security an ability to improve on the security and safety of our connected infrastructure. And it is clear that Clemson University continues to lead by example in exploring new and innovative ways of securing the Palmetto State’s cyber ecosystem.”
