Lockin, a security company based in Columbia, South Carolina, is working to educate the public on information security with two new initiatives. SC Cyber is eager to share these two initiatives with its members.
First, a collaboration between Peerlyst, Bits&Digits, and Lockin has produced "NoSecrets", a searchable database of 160 million leaked records of U.S. citizens with 330 unique fields. Citizens can use the database to determine whether and how much of their personal information has been leaked onto the web, with the contents of that information hidden from other database users. The collaboration provides a link with suggested steps to take for those whose records appear in the database. The database can be found at https://nosecrets.peerlyst.com/ .
Second, Lockin has independently developed Project Insight, an initiative to offer educational articles on different topics of cyber security. In addition to the six articles currently published, Lockin offers in-house workshops that explore the topics in each article in greater depth. Past Project Insight topics include safe internet browsing, secure email, and encrypted messaging. More on Project Insight can be found at https://lockin.in/ .
