It is incredible to see what can happen when a community comes together.
The South Carolina Cyber Consortium was started by MG (USA Ret) Les Eisner.
The idea was to bring together industry, academia, and government to address the need for South Carolina to develop the tools, techniques, and talent necessary to meet the cyber demands of the state.
Formed by a cadre of interested parties like SPAWAR, the SC National Guard, Soteria, Sentar, and other innovators, the consortium took real root when it was funded in February 2016 and announced by Governor Nikki Haley.
With the support of the SC Department of Commerce, the initiate had secured funding to address the education, workforce, research, critical infrastructure protection, and knowledge management needs of the Palmetto State.
SC Cyberquickly established itself as a backbone organization able to lead the state to become a cyber ecosystem other communities will follow.
As we look forward, our ultimate goal is to continue our founding values of educating, inspiring, and truly connect the region at all levels; academic, nonprofit, corporate, military, and government. With a subject as complex and ever-changing as cybersecurity, it takes everyone working collectively towards one goal to increasing the regions cyber awareness!
